Program Notes

The title 'Echoing off the Ricochet' came to me after composing about the first seven measures of the piece. When one instrument would respond to the other, it almost feels like dropping pebbles off a cliff. Each time the pebble hits a ledge as it continues downward, you hear the first collision, and then somewhere off in the distance, you hear the echo of that collision over and over again. And the sounds in the air can best be described as the wind carrying the throughout the landscape.
